Pretty Pretty Flowers

Was in a very creative mood today...Was reminiscing school days and the stuff we used to make in the arts and crafts classes....:)....Remembered this particularly simple tissue flowers and thought I'd give it a try...:)...Also clicked step-by-step photos so that I could share the joy...try it...It works as a good centre-piece and also gives you the happiness of having made something yourself that looks so pretty and with hardly any effort....:)

Materials required for the bouquet-

1)Tissue paper
2)Thread/wool
3)Scissors
4)Sketch Pens
5)Toothpicks(Optional)
6)Green Crepe Paper(Optional)

Directions for making the bouquet-
1)Cut the ends of the tissue paper and fold into a fan(small horizontal folds altenating between top and bottom). The photo below will give a better understanding of this step....:)

2)Fold in half and tie a string through the centre.

3)Carefully pull each layer up.Make sure you do it slowly or you'll end up tearing it!

4)Now hold the petals together and colour the ends using sketch pens. This is an optional step but the flowers look  much prettier this way...:)

5)Poke a tooothpick at the bottom and set the flowers in a vase. You can also make tiny crepe paper leaves to give the bouquet a more realistic look...:)

6)Perfume the flowers with sweet smelling perfume....:)

YOUR BOUQUET IS READY!!!!

Smart is the new sexy!!

Came across a photo of the cast of Big Bang Theory at a recent comic-con...Was shocked at how different the stars of the series looked!!! It's fascinating how such dynamic personalities manage to hide their real image under a mask of nerdiness!!And boy they do their job well! It's hard to imagine the characters in any other character than their present geeky characters!Maybe the producers should make an episode showing what else the characters would have been had they not become scientists....:)...Well, that's just an idea..:P....I really commend the good job done by the actors of the series..They have managed to convince the fans that they are geeks though they are not!!Well all of this is not considering Penny...She's the same both in reel and real-life...:)..(Thank God for that!! Can't imagine a geeky Penny too!!:P:P)
So  well.....SMART IS THE NEW SEXY......and thats a fact!!

The pic that inspired me to write this post..:)
Luks soo diff!! Ma fav. character from BBT..:)

Cute..:)

Well that's it for now..:)

Google Doodle celebrates Gregor Mendel’s 189th birthday

Wondered what the google doodle on the 20th of July 2011 meant??? Well just got this off the net....It is for Gregor Mendel, the "Father of Genetics"...:)

Google is celebrating the 189th birthday of scientist Gregor Mendel with a special pea-themed Google Doodle.Google is known for its creative doodles which it makes for special occasions, dates in history, or birthdays. Today’s doodle shows the Google logo spelled out in pea pods.

The reason for the pea pods is that Mendel used pea plants in his research that ultimately resulted in extremely important and groundbreaking fundamental discoveries about inheritance patterns and genetics. His studies showed that the inheritance of traits follow certain laws, which were later named after him.

He found the dominate and recessive traits with the help of pea pods and several experiments with them...
His work went unnoticed during his life, and wasn’t recognized until the turn of the 20th century when three scientists luckily found his research.Four years after finishing his work with peas in the garden of the Augustinian Abbey in Old Brno in the Czech Republic, he became ordained as a priest there and was named the head of the monastery in 1870. He died on Jan. 6, 1884 at the age of 61 in Brno where the Mendel Museum of Genetics resides today.

The following video shows some of Mendel's experiment resuls....IMPRESSIVE...Especially the cross of 2 purple offsprings to get white offsprings! See the video to get a better picture!
