Wondered what the google doodle on the 20th of July 2011 meant??? Well just got this off the net....It is for Gregor Mendel, the "Father of Genetics"...:)
Google is celebrating the 189th birthday of scientist Gregor Mendel with a special pea-themed Google Doodle.Google is known for its creative doodles which it makes for special occasions, dates in history, or birthdays. Today’s doodle shows the Google logo spelled out in pea pods.

His work went unnoticed during his life, and wasn’t recognized until the turn of the 20th century when three scientists luckily found his research.Four years after finishing his work with peas in the garden of the Augustinian Abbey in Old Brno in the Czech Republic, he became ordained as a priest there and was named the head of the monastery in 1870. He died on Jan. 6, 1884 at the age of 61 in Brno where the Mendel Museum of Genetics resides today.
